(1) Unless otherwise agreed by the parties, in arbitral proceedings with more than one arbitrator, any decision of the arbitral tribunal shall be made by a majority of all its members.
(2) Notwithstanding sub-section (1), if authorised by the parties or all the members of the arbitral tribunal, questions of procedure may be decided by the presiding arbitrator.

Power to award interest
Where the arbitrator has awarded interest from the date of the award till the date of payment, disallow interest from the date of the decree or determine a different rate at which the interest is to be paid or confirm the grant of interest as awarded in the award. In the instant case, the arbitrator is entitled to grant pre-reference, pendente lite and future interest, however, the claimant did not claim any pre-reference interest in proceedings before the arbitrator in the present facts and circumstances could not have granted interest from the date the arbitrator entered upon the reference by sending notice to the claimant and respondent on 26-4-1991 to the date of award at the rate of 15% p.a. on the amounts awarded; State of Orissa v.
